August 10th, 2018 – No Hands

From My Facebook Post:

Taylor Update: No Hands

Taylor fell asleep last night so easily… first night that has happened… and slept through. He was whooped from yesterday… and a good night’s rest was just what he needed! PENNY!

Please checkout/LIKE the PenniesforTaylor Page – this is setup by great friends of ours to help keep everyone in the loop as well as inform of local activities to help us through Taylor’s recovery. He loves the cards – we get SOOO MANY!!! WE LOVE IT!! We read each one to him and hang each one up on the wall! Thank you for everyone who has sent him cards and gifts! It is a blessing to have so many people care about him the way ya’ll do! That deserves a penny too! PENNY! ❤️

Taylor is excited about his visitors this weekend, and so are we!! Some of his friends and family are on the way already… one is even here already!!! Keeping him busy and having fun over the weekends is always a concern, but so far, never a challenge! Thank you to everyone for all you do to keep him motivated and enjoying his down time!

Therapy sessions were a little slower today, they really worked him hard yesterday, so it was sort of expected, but nonetheless… a great day for sure!!!

Last night, after the update, @Jennifer was doing some OT of her own, playing a game with Taylor – check out the video to see, he’s so awesome!! PENNY!

Because it was a little slower, we had some time to do some fun things! We sat around in his room goofing around for a good bit and meal time wasn’t as ‘crunched’ because of his schedule! So…Momma took T down to the cafeteria instead of eating his dinner in the therapy gym. HE LOVED IT!!! First time eating off the floor…. And regular food too!! PENNY!

We also spent some time reading more comments from last night’s post… he is very patient and appreciative of all of them – always asking who it was, usually responding with a ‘cool’ but I see in his face the way the compliments make him feel. Thank you all so much for that! I can tell it is very meaningful to him… and it is us too!!!

PT today was fantastic! It was his last thing before dinner but he dug deep. He did the treadmill today… with only 35% of his body weight being supported by the harness… the rest was on him! That’s less than earlier this week… PENNY!

The PT team was really impressed with him on the treadmill! You might notice in the video (spoiler alert) 😊 He even had a little swagger when he let go of both handrails to walk uphill!!! NO HANDS!! AWESOME!!! OH.. How far did he walk? He did some flat walking and uphill walking… for a total of 8/10th of a mile, no breaks!!! WHAT!?!?!?! PENNY!!!!!

This weekend will be so much fun for T! I CAN’T WAIT!!! Today was another great day filled with lots to be thankful for! I hope you took some time to find all the big and tiny blessings in your life, they are there, I promise!!

Please keep thinking of Taylor, his recovery and his vision! We are so hopeful for his sight but it’s a long way away. I pray for it all day long… and some nights… all night long.

Maybe I can catch him singing a little tomorrow… wait… His Aunt will be here… I will DEFINITELY catch him singing tomorrow 😊

The video is a bit long, but I was just so impressed with his walking, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Until Tomorrow… WE LOVE YA’LL! ❤️
